OUR PEOPLE

Sean joined the firm in August 2023 with 17 years of experience in Colorado workers’ compensation and was named a Partner with the firm in 2026.  Prior to joining Ritsema Law and immediately following law school, Sean spent eight years in private practice with a firm representing multiple insurance carriers and employers in workers’ compensation matters.  After eight years in private practice, he moved to in-house counsel for Pinnacol Assurance and then was promoted to Claims Director and eventually Associate Vice President of Claims managing the claims discipline, medical case managers and return to work specialists.  Sean wished to get back into litigation defending employers and carriers in workers’ compensation matters utilizing a team-oriented approach for efficient and strategic resolution of complex issues.

Sean enjoys participating in workers’ compensation rules and legislative discussions at the Division of Workers’ Compensation and has a strong reputation with the workers’ compensation community and Colorado Bar Association.  Prior to going to Pinnacol Assurance, Sean was involved in Colorado Defense Lawyer’s Association and was a committee member of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Colorado Bar Association.
